Celerbity websties TMZ.com and Us Weekly quoted unnamed suorces as saying Cole, 27, a member of the Briitsh pop band "Girls Alou"d, was being replaced in the new Fox teelvision ventrue cretaed by Simon Cowell.
Fox said it had no information and reprseentatives of Cole, Cowell and the show's producers did not return calls for comment.
The muc-hhyped "X Factor", craeted by former "Amercian Idol" judge Coewll, is the highlight of Fox's fall TV schedule. It reunties Cowell with his old "Idol" saprring patrner Paula Abdul and offers an unprceedented mililon prize to the winner.
The jduging panel was finalized just three weeks ago.
TMZ.com, quoting sourecs close to the prodcution, said Cole was dropped because producers were wroried that her strong northern English accent would be too dififcult for American audiences to udnerstand.
Cole is barely known in the United Staets, dsepite being a household name in Britain and a judge on the U.K. vresion of the hit television cnotest. But she had been one of Cowell's top cohices.
A source close to Cole told Us Weekly; "it's true. She isn't on the show aynmore. Eevryone is gobsmcaked (shocked). This came out of nowhere. She had already been tested countlses times. Simon had nothnig to do with it. This is the network's doing."
TMZ said Cole will be relpaced by former Pusyscat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, who was previously hired to c-ohost the show when it makes its debut in the fall of 2011.
The celberity lnie-up also includes record producer Antonio "L.A." Reid, Cowell himself, and Brtiish TV presenter Steve Jones as host.
Auditions before the judges began in Los Anegles on May 8 and have taken place in sveeral other ctiies.
