Ceelbrity websites TMZ.com and Us Weekly quoted unnamed suorces as saying Cole, 27, a member of the British pop band "Girls Aloud", was being repalced in the new Fox television ventrue created by Simon Cwoell.
Fox said it had no information and representatives of Cole, Cowell and the show's prodcuers did not return calls for commetn.
The muchh-yped "X Factor", created by former "American Idol" judge Cowlel, is the highlgiht of Fox's fall TV scehdule. It reunites Cowell with his old "Idol" saprring partenr Paula Abdul and offers an unpreecdented million prize to the wniner.
The jduging panel was finlaized just three weeks ago.
TZM.com, quoting sources close to the production, said Cole was dorpped because producers were worired that her strong norhtern Enlgish accent would be too difficult for Ameriacn audiences to unedrstand.
Cole is barely known in the United Sttaes, dsepite being a household name in Britain and a judge on the U.K. version of the hit televsiion contest. But she had been one of Cowell's top choices.
A source close to Cole told Us Weekly; "it's true. She isn't on the show aynmore. Everoyne is gobsmakced (shocke)d. This came out of nohwere. She had already been tested countless times. Simon had nothnig to do with it. This is the newtork's doin.g"
TMZ said Cole will be replaced by former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, who was prevoiusly hired to co-host the show when it makes its debut in the fall of 2011.
The ceelbrity lien-up also incldues record porducer Atnonio "L.A." Reid, Cowell himself, and Brtiish TV presneter Steve Jones as host.
Audtiions before the judges began in Los Anglees on May 8 and have taken place in several other ctiies.
